Message from Actionnel  Concerning Work Teams, Road Work, Haitians Earning Money, Feeding the Starving and Gratitude for MPUMC

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Warm greetings to you all at MPUMC,

Two weeks ago tomorrow, 75 people started fixing the road in Bayonnais with the help of the Granary of Joseph. The 75 people were divided into 5 groups of 15 each. Yesterday was the end of the first two weeks of 12 days of work and everyday got paid. It is not that easy for anyone to imagine how much happiness that has been in the community of Bayonnais in this time of big struggle with HUNGER and STARVATION in Haiti with so many going home from the Granary with donkeys or motor cycles or their heads loaded with rice. Knowing that a Haitian family has an average number of 7 people, we could figure out that at least 525 people  in those 75 employees have had in their a total of 7,906.25 lbs of food.

More and more people are coming to ask for work and tomorrow will be a new day for some new teams to continue the work on the road so that they can have some food also on their tables. Surely, Steve James would have been very happy if he heard about this.

We are so grateful to God for our Brothers and Sisters at Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, who have been graciously the backbone of this type of Ministry down here in the mountains of Bayonnais, Haiti. Surely if the Rednecks of Bayonnais could speak your language, they would have expressed themselves to you with big smile and appreciation.

Peace, Love, Appreciation and Grace.
