Haiti - A Country of Eternal
Transition.
By the way, what is a country? When I was in first grade in 1977 at the age of
13, I was taught that a Country is a homeland that our forefathers left for us
as a heritage. After 202 years of Independence, we are still in an endless
transition in Haiti.
On January 8th, 2006, elections should have been held in Haiti, where a
President, three senators and a congressman would have been chosen by each voter
in each Country or State. After 2 years of preparation for elections, the News
has surprisingly and sadly come out:. <<Sorry! No elections on January 8th,
2006.>> When is it going to be held? Nobody knows. Who is responsible for that?
It is nobody’s fault, the UN is blameless, OAS is blameless, the electoral
Counsel is blameless, and President Alexandre and Prime Minister Latortue are
not guilty either, but $60,000,000.00 US bucks has already been entirely spent
for that preparation for those unknown dates of elections. One thing we all do
know it that the rate of kidnapping and Crimes has gone up in the Haitian
Capital.
We, being Haitians who love so much this piece of land where God has chosen for
us to born, feel so much concerned or worried about the future of this nature,
our homeland. It is the one I should leave behind for my four children to live
in? This question has been a major one for most families down here. It is so
true that Haitians are fleeing the Country everyday.
In spite of all, we are so pleased to God for brothers and sisters like you that
God has sent into our way to encourage us in many ways in giving hope and
dignity to many through education and preaching the kerygma. Thanks to you all,
friends and partners. We are doing it together for God’s glory. Your monthly big
financial gifts and your constant prayers have made the difference. We love you
all, we respect you all, we are very much grateful, to God for you all and we
wish you a year of happiness, safety, good health, prosperity and victory over
the everyday spiritual struggles in your life, your families, your communities
and your Country.
Please, pray with us for this everlasting transition to be over properly during
the year 2006.
We are still optimistic for we are all in transit on this earth. This world is
not our home.
